He has a religion doctorate, is an academic lawyer and he served in university administration at NYU for over 25 years, teaching a full course load despite his demanding leadership responsibilities. He's also an enormously devoted baseball fan. Bringing a number of his passions together, Sexton starting teaching a course called "Baseball As a Road to God" in the early 2000s, which he adapted into a book in 2013.
